While the 2k is fantastic, it does have a sweet spot and if you're buying it as your first gold nibbed pen, you might be a little put off by its learning curve.

Hi guys! The nib on the 3776 is also a size larger than the other two, it definitely stands out more. The 1911 Standard and Custom 74 are fairly similar in size and feel, they're thinner than the 3776 and have a smoother transition from body to barrel. The standard is quite small and I don't think the large is really a large pen, though I can't remember as I own the s. In terms of the nib, it's pleasant to use. They even look a lot a like.As you can see, choosing between them is not going to be easy.Both pens post, they are both cartridge converters, and both have metal components inside, which give them a much needed bit of extra heft. On rakuten, they are all roughly the same price, so i was wondering which i should get. I've heard great things about all 3 pens so it's really hard to pick. The Sailor fine nib that I own is also very pleasant. However, due to its size it means you're able to use a Con-70 converter, which I think is the best converter out there on the market. So I hear a lot about these "big three" from Japan. The Sailor fine nib that I own is also very pleasant. Personally I enjoy Platinum and Sailor's feedback. Good generous flow, but I think it's a hairline thicker than the Platinum fine and the Sailor.

I dislike the color of gold, but I forgive this pen for its colors, as SFM isn't available in the US demonstrator colors and nib colors.I chose the 74 due to the price, and had a 3776 in my cart, but I kept hearing about that "platinum feedback" and I have no interest in that at all. The Pilot’s nib is the one that truly feels like a gold nib — this is a major selling point since both of these pens are popular “upgrade pens” or the first relatively expensive fountain pen people buy once they get into pens.The Pilot is the wetter nib, though there is always some variation from pen to pen and depending on the ink you buy.
