(801) 785-3563From I-15 exit #265, head east on Center St toward 1000 W St. At the traffic circle, continue straight onto Center St, and then turn left onto 900 E St. 390 North 100 East Once you get to the Bonneville shoreline trail, it’s a good mile or more back to the trailhead. It was very pretty hike. You connect to Y mountain trail and then you hike along the city line for the last few miles and at least for me it wasn’t as enjoyable. Sep 17, 2019 near

RECOMMENDED ROUTE Once you reach the turn off in Rock Canyon the trail becomes overgrown and steep— very steep.

Trail was overgrown with tall grass in areas of higher elevation probay between the 3.5 mile to 5 mile spot.Hiked around Maple Mountain with a few detours.

There was snow about 1 mile before the Slide Canyon Trail turnoff to Provo Peak. RECOMMENDED ROUTE

04/04/20 - This is a great hike to get in early in the morning! I did the run at 7 am and didn’t find any other runners or walkers; this trail is definitely quieter than others nearby.Very steep, lots of stream crossings (about 9, water is only several inches deep at the most, but cold), but very beautiful views of the snowy mountains up higher, rocky cliffs, and of Utah Valley below. Slate Canyon Connector Slate Canyon Connector begins at Center ST and Seven Peaks BLVD, turning south from the roundabout at the intersection. You can get up to Provo Peak from this trail and it connects to slide canyon and the first right fork trail in the meadow behind Y mountain.

The trail is steep; I did run all the way but it was just about runnable. Slate Canyon Trail #61, UT: 2019-04-27: 6 by ddgrunning : 1 . Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail. Lots of wildflowers up there still in late July.

Started 8 am on Friday.I did 2 miles out and back this morning.

Slate Canyon Loop Trail begins at the mouth of Slate Canyon and connects to Slide Canyon to the north. The complete loop is about 8.4 miles but the trail makes a great out and back trail for Slate Canyon or Slide Canyon (connects to the famous "Y" hiking trail). The temperatures at the top are a lot cooler than the valley floor, and the cold spring at about 3mi in is always a welcome treat after hiking up.I took the trail around the back of the mountain and down past the Y. We tried to stay on track with the GPS, but it led us about 100 or so feet to the west of the actual trail.

The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until October. So steep!

It’s not that pleasant and you really don’t get any great views... it’s super steep and rocky and just not the most fun. I'm not used to high elevation but made it through fine. Several spectacular cliff bands add unique character to the scenery along the trail.

Turn right at Terrace Dr., then turn left and take the next right into the Parking lot; park only in designated spots.Beautiful hike, as always.

Most of the snow is melted except a 1/2 mile patch on the far east sife of the loop.This was a beautiful hike and would recommend if you have snow shoes right now. I would rather be surrounded by nature the whole time without a trace of the city.I really enjoyed the single track connecting Slate and Slide canyons.

We did 2 miles up and down, no loop for us today, four miles total.

The trail is .51 miles and leads to the trailhead for the Slate Canyon Trail and an entrance point onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Easy to moderate.Love this trail, love exploring around side trails, saw a rattle snake, wanted to come out of rock canyon but couldn’t find a trail coming out that side of the YThis hike is the Slate Canyon loop. Smooth, wide, machine groomed trail with small jumps and big berms. Really fantastic hike and beautiful trees once you get past the rocky part of slate canyon.
