Rick is delighted to announce a worldwide distribution deal for Keyboard Legend Rick Wakeman & The English Rock Ensemble has released “The Red Planet” on June 19, 2020. Wakeman jokes about the idea of pushing the “prog fader” up to 11, saying “That could be a problem, as it’s already at 14!” A special “pop-up” package is limited to 2,000 copies worldwide, and at the time of this writing it is unclear whether or not this is a limitation for the CD + DVD bundle. The band includes guitarist Dave Colquhoun, drummer Ash Soan and bassist Lee Pomeroy. From his time as a session musician working with bands and artists such as Elton John, Lou Reed, Marc Bolan & T. Rex, and Al Stewart to name a few. The album features 8 newly composed pieces, especially for this project, and harks back to Wakeman's critically acclaimed debut album “The Six Wives of Henry VIII” where there were 6 heavy keyboard pieces based around a central subject matter. However, the surround mix is delayed and possibly will be issued at a later date, thus this edition is now marketed to contain interviews and other extras.
