She makes the subject easy to learn. The class said yeah and she looked at me like I did something wrong.I have really bad anxiety and every time she calls someone out I freak out a little. 4 exams, about 15 online videos and a handful of random class participation/attendance assignments. She is very understanding and will help you if you go to office hours to ask questions. There's a lot if information on exams so I would study a week in advance to avoid cramming because they can get jumbled up.4 tests, and about 15 online video quizzes. Although, if you attend class and pay attention, you 100% can pass with an A. She's so extra.

Do not take this professorIts just really unfortunate when you have an interesting topic like psychological aspects of aging completely get all the fun yanked out of it with a dull, over focused structure of a course. LolMandatory attendance. Just go to class, read the book, and you'll do fine.Garst doesn't post her lectures online, so you have to go to class. I liked her because she stuck to her word and was very passionate about the subject.Professor literally has 0 sympathy & comes off rude towards students. Heavy emphasis on exams. The class was very interesting. Lots of assignments that requires heavy writing. It also publishes learning resources, videos, and helpful links. I have taken two of her classes and absolutely would take more if I had the opportunity to.Her class is not hard at all. but still READ THE TEXTBOOK.Had a rough time because professor was gone half the semester, but she is very passionate and an amazing teacher.

She does not take attendance; however, there are random in-class assignment, so you might want to show up to the class for participation grade. She also has in class assignment almost every class, which is how she takes attendance.Professor Garst is personable and engages the class. Doesn't grade on content, but how closely you do what she wants you to do. Need to attend her class everyday in order to pass bc thats the only way to get the notes (doesnt post them online bc she has some copy right material in her notes and doesnt wana get in trouble for that. Picks out every little thing to mark you down for in assignments.
I highly recommend her!She gives TOUGH tests so you really have to know your stuff. There are times when she is not specific, but insists that you should have understood her vague language. Final is comprehensive. She gives clear grading criteria from the beginning of the semester and she grades strictly from those grading criteria. I wish she taught more classes at UTD. She makes the subject easy to learn. LOTS of activities outside the classroom. She offered an easy extra credit assignment that helped out a lot. Rate My Teachers (RMT) is an educational site where students evaluate, rate, and review teachers and courses. VERY strict about APA & a tough grader. Just do the work, turn it in on time and actually put effort on the assignments.

Not really a bad class or teacher, you can do it!spau 3301 is a very interesting,light material class. The only problem with her, that most people don't like, is that she's APA crazy and ANYTHING you do has to have EVERYTHING she wants and HOW she wants it. Dont even know how thats possible? Her tests are tricky. I think she's an amazing lecturer. Go to office hours before turning in papers if you want to succeed.This professor can't be bothered to even put a lecture together, she will read straight from the textbook.
This class gave me horrible anxiety because she told us to look at something on our phones and I couldnt find it. This is the first professor in my four years who made me so mad I felt the need to rate her.
