After spending most of the summer of 1781 as a prisoner of war, Pinckney was among a group of officers exchanged through a general agreement for the South Carolina militia.
His son, Henry Laurens Pinckney (1794-1863), was a member of the state House of Representatives in 1816-1832, founded in 1819 and edited for fifteen years the Charleston of individual influence in the framing of the document rests in the determination of the constituent parts of the Consti-tution contributed by each of the convention delegates.

Charles passed away in August 1965, at age 65.
Upon the sudden death of the colony's chief justice, Governor James Glen offered Pinckney the post, and he was sworn in on 22 September 1752.
He died at Charleston, South Carolina, on the 29th of October 1824. He was twice nominated by the Federalist Party as its presidential candidate in 1804 and 1808, losing both elections. A system error has occurred.
