Best starter fountain pen Reddit

I've only seen one on ebay and was outbid by like 50$ - I've been hunting for them ever since...There are 1970 elites with 18K posting nibs, they don't pop up that often, but probably more often than that, if you stick to Japanese sellers on ebay in auction format you can luck out for under 40-50 sometimes, such as I did for the Posting and I have a a vintage 18k pilot elite in medium. Are those cutouts on the nib?Does anyone know where to find the old 95s with a PO (posting) nib? A vintage 18k nibbed Elite is still a ridiculously awesome EDC pen for work or play. Created May 13, 2010. CHECK PRICE ON AMAZON. I love the pen, but wish it could fit something other than a squeeze converterI just refill a cartridge. Pilot cartridges are cheaper than converters, durable, hold 1ml, and let you see how much ink you have left. The new con-40 will fit any pen that accepts the con-20.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast/r/fountainpens - A community for fountain pen enthusiasts, from the novice to the collector.Press J to jump to the feed. You can definitely coax some line variation out of the fine E95s with a bit of pressure, but I wouldn't recommend buying an E95s for the line variation. The other similarity between the two models is the filling system. I have some old tools I'd like to refinish, I'm looking for suggestions on paint that holds upI used a couple coats of Rust-Oleum on Rust-Oleum primer with clear coat on top, it seems to be holding up really good so farI found that vise listed as the "Handy Mechanics Vise #43½ in an advertisement from 1930.That lettering on that style of vise changed in the 1940's catalogue so it's got to be from within that time period.Solved! How do you do the handle? And i noticed they are extremely attracted to light. If anyone knows what they are please share! A vintage one off ebay certainly beats the pants off a lot of other pocket sized pens in the $20 to $40 range.Nice visual comparison, though I still prefer the 70s elites (especially in the 18k "Soft" and "Posting" Nibs). But the one I like even more than those with the same style nib is the slightly older Pilot Super 250 with a 14k Falcon Nib. Thanks! If you look around, you can find vintage Elites in a variety of nibs including normal steel nibs and something called a "script" nib. The vintage Elite features an extra fine soft nib that writes amazingly smoothly with a bit of bounce. And you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a great one. See More Reviews. Not too bad for a gold nibbed pocket pen!Maybe I was just unlucky, but I tried two of Speerbob's Korean Elites and neither of them had a great nib, although I loved the look and feel of the pen - it actually prompted me to get the current model.

The E95s has a thicker girth which doesn't make the pen bulky at all thanks to its tapering barrel which can accommodate a wide variety of girth preferences (err, nvm). And I'll say this - Kaco Gel 0.5 refills in 849 - one of the best combos I can imagine :) ... A subreddit dedicated to pens!

I also tried an 18k Elite but it was too fine and dry for me- that one I didn't get.Gotta love these Elites. The nibs are all European sized on Taiwanese-built pens. They’ve taken the best design features from their line of pens and combined them into a pocketable super pen.
